She further urges the audience to promoted education inPakistan despite assassinations and opposition from the Talibanfighters because “the pen is mightier than sword” (Yousafzai 2).She encourages the audience that they can defeat the extremists’intention of preventing girls from accessing education even withoutfighting physical war because other internationally recognized wayfinders such as Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Martin Luther King, and NelsonMandela (Yousafzai 3). The leaders used the power of education todemand equality for their people in spite of the imminent danger ofthe task. Malala identifies countries such as India and Afghanistanwhere extremists deny several girls an opportunity to advance theireducation. She notes that girls are married off at young age and usedto provide child labor, a status that subjects them to poverty anddignity abuse. She urges the entire audience to persist in fightingfor girls’ education so that they can achieve their desireddignity.

Thespeaker’s purpose for this speech is clear. She is concerned thatif girls fail to receive education, they will not achieve equality inthe society. She contends that the lack of education could instillfear, weakness and hopelessness. On the contrary, if everyone canoppose the extremists’ threats and emphasize on the significance ofgirls’ education, they could overcome the poverty and oppressionrate of women. In my opinion, she deems illiteracy as the main causeof poverty and extremism as she quotes a boy that claimed, “A Talibdoes not know what is in this book.&quot They think that God is atiny, little conservative being who would send girls to the hell justbecause of going to school (Yousafzai 2).”

Eachtime the writer makes an assertion, she gives examples of placeswhere such problems occurred and the approach that concerned personsused to solve the problems. For example, the speaker compares hiscompassion for the Talib, who shot him to Lord Buddha’sforgiveness, Prophet Muhammad and Jesus Christ’s empathy to provehis complete forgiveness to the Islamist fundamentalists terrorizingthem. In my opinion, Malala asserts her declaration to significantreligion pillars to prove that religion assist people to developbetter religion comprehension. Furthermore, she uses the adage “thepen is mightier than swords” to illustrate to prove thesignificance of education (Yousafzai 2).

Ifound the introduction of the speech effective because it stated thatthe speech was a presentation by a Pakistani girl who had been shoton the head by a group of Islamic fundamentalists for demandingeducation for the girls. Furthermore, the introduction asserts thatthe speech is based on the significance of education. I also notedthat the writer indicated that that Malala was reading a speech onher sixteenth birthday (Yousafzai 1). The foreword transitionseffectively as it begins by informing the readers about thebackground information of the speaker, the incident that happened,the reason she was shot, the people behind the shooting and theobjective of the current speech. Her personal information thantransitions to inform readers about the speakers’ age and herachievements.

Ifound the speech professionally written and effectively transitionsto cover all the main points. For example, she starts with expressingher reverence to God, and then proceeds with greeting thedistinguished guests in respect to their ranks beginning with the UNsecretary general, special UN envoy, society elders and then herbrothers and sisters (Yousafzai 1). She then appreciates the audiencefor giving her the opportunity to present a speech. In my view, thisis a humble gesture that she is glad for the audience recognizingher. I found the speech persuasive because she recounts the peoplewho have died, the motivation driving the terrorists, the sufferingshe has undergone and the expected victory she looks forward toachieving once the fight against the extremists is over (Yousafzai2). The speech outlines the events in a logic flow that they aresupposed to fall in place. I could identify the main points easilythroughout the speech because the speaker effectively integratesattention-catching and emphasize phrases to make the intended pointclearer.

Forthe conclusion, it summarized the main points effectively as thespeaker reminded the audience that the world has many individualssuffering from ignorance, poverty and injustice. She then reminds theaudience that they have a task of combating poverty, extremism andilliteracy for women to achieve the desired lifestyle such as genderequality. She then proposes that students can accomplish this goal byusing education, which is an extremely powerful tool for eliminatingobstacles that prevent women from achieving their full potential(Yousafzai 3). I found the conclusion effective since she recaps theproblem and the solution.

Inmy opinion, Yousafzai’s speech is effective because the points arearranged in a chronological approach. The problems, their causes andeffective solutions are clearly outlined. The speaker has also usedphrases for emphasizing and catching readers’ attention (Yousafzai2). Lastly, I am rating the speech as good because she has usedarticulate language when communicating the main points.
