2008 Conference

Dear Members of Founder Region:

It's no secret that last year's region conference was educational, entertaining, and exciting! We are planning that and more for our 32nd Annual Founder Region Conference, which will be held May 2-4 at the San Ramon Marriott Hotel. One secret I am thrilled to reveal is that Immediate Past International President Lynn Dunning will be our special guest.

The wizards of Hostess Club Soroptimist International of Napa, the Founder Region Board of Directors, and Conference Coordinator Joyce Strand are brewing a bewitching weekend of business, education, award presentations, friendship, and merriment. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to hear reports by our official visitors Federation Director Dulce Gozon and Fund Development Council Representative Rosemarie Burton, to meet all the award winners, and to shop at our third annual Trade Fair.

If you would like to see your region board in action, please attend as a silent observer on Thursday beginning at 9 a.m. The fun begins Thursday night with food and fashion.

There's no substitute for good health, a subject members of the Legislative Advocacy Committee will present in a workshop Friday morning. Alternatively, those interested in club and region leadership can participate in a training session for leaders of volunteers. At dinner, imagine the fun you’ll have dressing up in fashions from the last six decades as we commemorate 60 years of Founder Region Fellowship and honor the Fellowship recipients at the opening banquet Friday evening.

Success starts with you and Saturday we will celebrate member and club achievements in creating magic in their communities. We will honor first-time attendees, conduct the business of the region, elect the officers and directors who will serve with Governor-elect Amelia, and conclude a busy day by "Puttin' on the Glitz!" For those who insist on the best this is your opportunity to wear those formals or semi-formals with lots of bangles, beads, and bling. But the magic won’t end at the stroke of midnight!!!

Join us Sunday morning to celebrate the lives of those Soroptimists who passed away since our last conference. This Memorial will be followed by our annual awards brunch where we honor our awardees and conclude the weekend with the "Creating Magic" basket raffle.

Warm regards,

Sue Finch, Governor
